Fingerless Mitts are wonderful to wear! Your hands are warm but you still have the dexterity needed to accomplish tasks. These warm and cozy fingerless mitts are a great way to introduce yourself to the fascinating Swedish technique Tvåändsstickning, or Two-End knitting, aka Twined knitting. You will learn a Twined knitting cast-on, the basics (knit and purl), and different classic motifs. In addition, you’ll learn to read a Twined knitting chart, work the crooked thumb gusset by increasing in Twined knitting, and finish off with the Herringbone Braid at the top!
Besides the Main Color, a few yards of a contrasting yarn are also required for the cast-on and the Herringbone Braid at the top, as well as the edge of the thumb.
The pattern assumes the knitter has never worked the technique of Twined Knitting before. Explicit directions are given, including photos and Theory Boxes, garment directions, pattern charts, and a list of abbreviations and a Reading List.
